Citrus County Central LF Phase 3 Expansion

The Citrus County Central Landfill Phase III Expansion project began for COMANCO in July, and since then our teams have completed construction of the access road, sub-base limerock installation, water retention pond construction, earth cutting & filling of cell, trenching and construction of a stormwater ditch on east end of the cell. We’re in process of installing 8” solid HDPE pipe, GSE Bi-Planar and Nonwoven geotextile and Mirafi Biaxial Geogrid. Over the next few days liner deployment on the slopes will continue, followed by tie-in of the floor panels.

COMANCO's diversity: Veolia Evergreen Landfill clay and geomembrane combination

Dsc_0025_copy

This project highlights COMANCO’s diversity and flexibility in 2 ways.

One, we are installing a liner composition of geomembrane and 2’ of clay liner. The clay liner must meet strict Georgia EPD standards. Second, this 22 acres cell was originally designed to be installed at one time.  However, the owner needed the additional space.  COMANCO has worked with the engineers and the owner to open a 13 acre portion first to allow room for their waste expansion.

The lighter color on this picture represents the subgrade and the darker color is the clay.
